Special bike fair has arrived. Part 1
The return to the annual rhythm could be celebrated in 2023. However, only with the 2024 trade fair should it really be possible to assess whether the trade fairs will remain. And that can clearly be said after the last weekend in April.
To the reportMore and more bikes - where is the specialty bike industry heading? Part 2
New location, new concept: exciting product ideas continue to play the main role at Spezi, which is also very popular in its new guise. The organizer sees itself in the "green zone".

The relocation of the specialty bike fair from Germersheim to Lauchringen was obviously a success. Although the number of visitors did not reach the previous level, the mood of the exhibitors and the quality of the trade fair did. To the report

It was packed. It was packed with visitors. It was packed with exhibitors. It was packed with interesting special bikes, recumbents, trikes, velomobiles. It was packed with a great cycling atmosphere. The organizing guys themselves called it "The New SPEZI" in the press release, i.e. the SPEZI that was held for the second time in Lauchringen in southern Germany, instead of in Germersheim near Karlsruhe. Press and media
Out of the niche, into tomorrow's mass mobility: The International Special Bikes Show, SPEZI, presents the latest models and their potential as game-changers. The specialty bicycle industry is definitely 'clear for the turn' – towards a transportation revolution. The Special Bicycle Fair follows this sailing motto and showcases the diverse possibilities of sustainable mobility.
The thoughtful modernization of SPEZI includes expanding the perspective beyond the traditional notion of the "special bike" to encompass contemporary and forward-thinking mobility solutions. "The classic SPEZI has always been at the forefront. However, many solutions that were once regarded as niche products a decade ago have now become mainstream, such as cargo bikes or electric-assisted three-wheeled recumbent bikes. The ecological and social transformation of transportation will also be shaped by the bicycle industry's ability to cater to the ever-evolving individual mobility requirements of modern society.
Welcome to the LauffenmĂĽhle of Lauchringen
The special location
Lauchringen (Baden-WĂĽrttemberg Germany) is a small family-friendly community with around 8,000 inhabitants and is located on the High Rhine in the immediate vicinity of the Swiss border and at the foot of the southern Black Forest, one of the most beautiful vacation regions in Germany.Â
Lauchringen has a train stop (Lauchringen West), as well as a train station in neighboring Tiengen and can be reached by car via the A8 Stuttgart/Singen exit Donaueschingen or via the A5 to Freiburg and across the Black Forest. The nearest nearby airports are in Zurich and Basel in Switzerland.
For the SPEZI, we will serve the last mile with shuttle buses from Tiengen train station, allowing for speedy and uncomplicated travel from all directions. We will signpost the local bike paths in an appropriate radius.Â
Large area, all combined
The SPEZI takes place on the LauffenmĂĽhle area of the municipality of Lauchringen. It is a 7.5 hectare former industrial site. The hall "Spinnerei 2" offers space for over 90 exhibitors and the outdoor area is directly adjacent. The listed "Baumwollhalle" offers space for socializing while eating, drinking and listening to music and the "alte Schlosserei" forms the perfect backdrop for exciting lectures.
The well-secured test course, which is a good kilometer long, winds its way through the middle. If you take the optional turnoff, you can ride your test bike directly into the exhibition hall up to the exhibitors. An extended test track of just under two kilometers and 60 meters of elevation gain can be ridden on the closed main road as an option.
Spinnerei 2 exhibition hall
The large hall of "Spinnerei 2" with its 5,500m² is the heart of SPEZI. Here there is space for over 90 exhibitors and a test course, which optionally leads through the hall and connects to the exhibitor stands with a "changing zone".
Exhibitors have two backstage areas and can also use the chill areas scattered throughout the hall for business exchanges.Â
The paths in the hall are designed to create a regulated flow of visitors. Large as well as small booths are equally flooded by the visitors.Â
