SPEZI says goodbye to Lauchringen: See you in Freiburg!
The SPEZI International Specialty Bike Show bid farewell to Lauchringen with a lavish bike festival. The next edition will take place in Freiburg on April 25 and 26, 2026.
The trade fair organizers, brothers Florian and Gabriel Wolf and Franz Furmaniak, bid farewell to Lauchringen with a large poster at the SPEZI exit. Next year, the internationally renowned specialty bike fair will take place for the first time at the Messe Freiburg exhibition center in Breisgau. Gabriel Wolf hopes that the change of location will give the trade fair a further boost: "SPEZI has always showcased solutions for the mobility of the future. As a cycling city, Freiburg is one of the places where people already live this mobility in their everyday lives. We are addressing an even larger target group there than before. It just fits!" His brother Florian Wolf also highlights the university city's excellent transport links and emphasizes the opportunities offered by the Messe Freiburg site: "We are delighted that Freiburg is faster and easier to reach for people who live and work further away, even without a car. In future, we will have even more space for modern exhibition and trade fair concepts in the exhibition halls," says Wolf. However, nothing will change at the core of the SPEZI brand. "We will take the personal proximity, the focus on trying things out and the great atmosphere with us to Freiburg," promise the Wolf brothers.
Gratitude and enthusiasm to say goodbye
"The decision to leave the municipality in the district of Waldshut was anything but easy for us. Lauchringen welcomed us with open arms and supported us in every conceivable way. Special thanks are due to the local clubs and the Lauchringen politicians," says local hero Franz Furmaniak, looking back on the three previous events held on the Lauffenmühle site. The site made the restart possible after the coronavirus break and the takeover by trade fair founder Hardy Siebecke. "2025 was the best SPEZI ever for us and a fantastic bike and mobility festival," says Furmaniak." More than 6,000 visitors visited 101 exhibitors to find out about the latest special bike and mobility trends, test bikes, talk shop and have a great time.
Comments on SPEZI 2025: "The audience is amazing"
As usual, SPEZI impressed with its special charm, and the informal atmosphere makes it attractive for exhibitors and visitors alike. Joachim Leffler was at SPEZI for the first time with accessories manufacturer Fahrer Berlin and was already raving about it on Saturday morning: "The audience is amazing! We've never experienced such professionalism and interest at a trade fair before." The Berliners are also planning to take part next year. "The connection is even better in Freiburg and we expect even more people to come. We're already looking forward to it"
Ansmann, which manufactures drive systems and battery packs, shares the anticipation for Freiburg. "We're exhibiting for the first time this year, otherwise we've always been here as visitors. We definitely want to be here again next year," says Sven Plewa, who works as a key account manager for drive technology at Ansmann. The feedback from visitors was excellent and he and his colleague were "literally overrun" at their stand.
"As always, totally enthusiastic"
Franziska Bosselmann from cargo bike manufacturer Mäx and Mäleon also reports many positive customer conversations. "This is our third year here, the atmosphere is great and, as always, we are totally enthusiastic." Frank Regge from lighting specialist Busch und Müller is also pleased with the good discussions. "These are all people with background knowledge who have specific questions. They're all people who are really into bikes. That's great." Carsten Hage from handbike manufacturer Tretzeug also appreciates the friendly exchange with like-minded people. His conclusion: "I don't know of any other trade fair that has such a festival character." Some exhibitors are also a little wistful about the lively attendance and interest. "It's a little sad to be leaving Lauchringen again," says Heiko Truppel from the Hessian recumbent bike manufacturer HP Velotechnik, but you just know: "The SPEZI will remain the SPEZI and the new location will certainly not disappoint."
Burkhard Stork, ZIV
"The specialty bike segment is small but great. A lot of innovations are happening here. In the car industry, people used to say that everything is tried out in the most expensive Mercedes. We're now seeing a bit of the same thing with special wheels. That's why it's exciting to be here. And of course I'm also pleased that there are so many thriving businesses exhibiting here."
Carlotta Kurth, Hopper Mobility
"The SPEZI is really great. So many people who don't just want to ride the hopper, but who are generally keen to try out bikes. You can see all kinds of different bikes here and the atmosphere is great."
Michaela Bernds, Bernds Bikes
"It's wonderful again! The wildest constructions drive around here - really lots of innovative things. We really enjoy being here and look forward to it every year. Then next year in Freiburg. Then the whole thing will simply be even bigger, more beautiful and easier to get to."
Thomas Seifert, Carla Cargo
"We always enjoy being at SPEZI and look forward to next year - we're not far away. We appreciate the diversity and the audience at SPEZI. There are lots of people here who make and build things themselves and enjoy exchanging ideas. You see things here that you wouldn't otherwise see and then realize: Wow, that works really well!"
André Vrielink, GoLo Bike
"SPEZI is always great and you get to talk to lots of people. Some of them you saw at the trade fair two or three years ago and then they come and say: Now I'm ready for the bike! That makes us very happy, of course."
