With this goal in mind, we have been advocating for municipal transport bike rental systems since 2015. Because we are convinced that these are an important building block for the transport revolution.
Transport bikes are very suitable as a shared good: On the one hand, they are expensive and more space-intensive than normal bikes, so that not all people can afford their own transport bike. On the other hand, they are often not needed on a daily basis, but e.g. for larger (weekly) purchases or for excursions.
Initially, we implemented the model project TINK (Transportrad Initiative Nachhaltiger Kommunen - Transport Bike Initiative of Sustainable Communities) in two model municipalities, Constance and Norderstedt, to set up two transport bike rental systems. The TINK project was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure with funds from the National Cycling Plan 2020.
Building on this success, we founded TINK Walter & Wagner GbR in May 2019 and changed its name to a limited liability company in July 2021. In this way, we want to continue our work from the TINK project and pass on our accumulated experience to municipalities.
